The Space Between Stars

When we peer into the sky, we peer into the past.

Astronomy, cosmology, and mythology coalesce in this uncommon adaptation of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s classic novella, The Little Prince, intended for adult audiences.

Originally titled The Object of Constellations, this site-specific performance the premiered April 2016 at the University of Alberta’s astronomical observatory, created and performed in partial fulfillment of Christine Lesiak’s Master of Fine Arts Theatre Practice thesis, The University of Alberta.

The Object of Constellations was further developed and expanded through Alberta Playwrights’ Network and SkirtsAfire Festival. The resulting script, now titled The Space Between Stars, was awarded the 2018 Alberta Playwriting Competition Novitiate Prize.

The Space Between Stars is undergoing further development in 2020 for performance in Zeidler Dome at Telus World of Science Edmonton.

Read the feature article from The Edmonton Journal’s Liz Nicholls for the original production.
