The Space Between Stars emerged from a site-specific performance called The Object of Constellations, premiered April 2016 at the University of Alberta’s astronomical observatory. The Object of Constellations was further developed and expanded through Alberta Playwrights’ Network and SkirtsAfire Festival, and the resulting script, The Space Between Stars, was awarded the 2018 Alberta Playwriting Competition Novitiate Prize. With the support of Toy Guns Dance Theatre, and The Edmonton Arts Council, it underwent projection development in 2020 at Zeidler Dome at Telus World of Science Edmonton. Projection design work continues with support from The Alberta Foundation for the Arts.

Read the feature article from The Edmonton Journal’s Liz Nicholls for the original production.
